Some months ago I challenged Haley Barbour's assertion while he was on a speaking assignment at the Iowa GOP's night of rising stars, in a Des Moines Register post. When asked by a reporter if Sanford should resign, he indicated that his was not a hanging offense and he should not resign his office. In fact the Mississippi Governor shared that this situation would not change one vote in South Carolina. He was dead wrong then as evidenced by the state legislature's current intention.

Sanford should resign immediately and if not be impeached. The Mississippi Governor should apologize to voters for his faulty analysis, if he intends to run for higher office.
