WSJ, Assoicated Press, Ashcroft Ruled Against

TWO WEEKS, THE CASE OF Abdullah Al-Kidd, Plaintiff-Appellee, vs, John Ashcroft, Defendant-Appellant. Circuit Judge David R. Thompson (Reagan), Carlos T. Bea (Bush), Milan D. Smith, Jr (Bush), the panel was composed of Republican Presidential appointees.

Observations include,

This individual was detained for only two weeks? He was detained two years in 2003, after 9/11, while the memories of our fellow citizens being killed by the hundreds remained vivid and fresh in our minds. The three judge panel of the 9th U.S. Court of Appeals, through the court's opinion, accused the former Attorney General of a repugnant use of the Constitution which was a painful reminder of the most ignominious chapters of our nation's history. Also, their ruling comes after the last seven relatively protected years of the Bush effort to keep this country safe from foreign terrorists.

This person was held for two weeks as a material witness and according to him lost three important parts of his life,

# Lost a scholarship to study in Saudi Arabia, What's wrong with studying in the U.S.?
# Employment opportunies, since when does an opportunity mean an actual job?
# This retention caused his marriage to fall apart, after two weeks of retention? Give me a break!

This person claims that the Attorney General designed this program to target Muslim Men and those of Arab descent. I would encourage the former Attorney General to appeal this decsion if necessary to the U.S. Supreme Court. All this, for two weeks of retention, in a time of war, in an attempt to protect the American people. John Ashcroft should be given a medal for his service to the nation, not rebuke, in my opinion,
