Thanks very much, to Andy Barr for thorough coverage of Tim Pawlenty's recent remarks in Chicago. As Vice Chairman of the Republican Governor's Association, he was not right on point (in spite of the Arizona legislator's quoted observation). His prophetic view where he forsees a GOP surge if the administration's health care plan is rejected, is an incorrect assumption at best, and fantasy land at worst. He stated"We are already seeing the (GOP) resurgence in this country." Frankly, Tim what we are seeing is a resurgence and determination of thousands of our fellow Americans studying the issues and then strongly enunciating their views, they are taking America back, This has little to do with the GOP and its politicians, many of whom have failed to provide alternative proposals and effective leadership.
The Governor's quote on healthcare is naive in my assessment, He stated"We had people...saying we couldn't talk about healthcare...Are you kidding me? There is no other pocket book issue that affects people as much as this one." Tim, although healthcare is important to all of us, are you serious in making this statement, when millions in this nation are without jobs, paying more taxes than ever, losing their homes, parents losing boys and girls in two continuing wars, living under the constant threat of terrorism, unable to buy even school supplies, with their children often playing unsafe in parks, and a general sense that the America they have known, is being taken from them and their families, through unfair trade agreements and politicians that care only about lobbyists.
Governor, your statement that "it should be ok for all of us to believe in and acknowledge God" ...we can put it out there, its o.k., is anemic on your part, since those Americans, like myself who have believed in God throughout our lives, will continue to do so whether it's "ok" or not. When you state that "We need to be calling out flaws and the misguided decisions of the Democrats in Congress and the Obama administration, you are merely restating the obvious and "preaching to the choir." Why not share with all of us your policy for a solution to this problem. Also, let's call out flaws of our past decisions which were at best, not in the economic or family interests of most Americans.
As a republican conservative, I have never been a Chris Matthews listener, or fan. I am certain we agree on very few things, and yet your comment about "Chris Matthews man crush on Obama" is not appropriate unless you have substantiated that asummption by having talked with him to clarify what he really mean't in his statement about the "chills."
We are facing serious problems as a nation, but if we remain true to the principles of our founders and listen carefully to the voices of our people, with God's help, our greatest days are yet ahead
