MARIO PUZO'S GODFATHER AND HILLARY CLINTON WHAT DO THEY HAVE IN COMMON?

MARIO PUZO’S GODFATHER SERIES AND FORMER SECRETARY OF STATE HILLARY CLINTION Movies based on fiction live and die as does their relation to perceived reality. The more realistic the fictional story account seems the greater the story narrative’s popularity. Months have intervened since the tragic Benghazi incident claimed the lives of Ambassador Chris Stevens, staff, seals, and other helpers. A real life horror story in Libya with many wrong attributions for the tragedy long since forgotten except in the minds of the affected families is still active. Americans seem to have moved beyond the event and Hillary Clinton’s “what difference does it make?” comment has acted perhaps as a muting quote of public criticism. We are now aware that many questions about the sad event in Libya remains unanswered in the minds of Congressional representatives in particular and elements of the American public at large. It seems that the former Secretary of State is somewhat cleared today from having to answer many of the perplexing questions of this tragic event, this in spite of her perceived preparation for a potential presidential campaign demanding public openness. Questions remain for the Secretary of State, Who attacked the embassy, who were the guards, why was the embassy mauled, was U.S. military assistance sought by our ambassador and friends, why was the request if presented to the military not honored, what was the role of our defenders who sacrificed their lives? Will now the former Secretary of State Clinton give honest and clarifying answers to the voting public on this tragic loss of American life? This is a moment for the truth of fiction to assist in the quest for truthfulness from Hillary Clinton. The words cascade rapidly from the scene after a nephew’s first Baptism in the film the Godfather. Recall that Al Pacino’s character has taken his sister’s husband Carlo home to await his wife’s return from the church’s sacred event. Michael softly makes a statement “Carlo, you must answer for Sonny.” The clear implication from the Godfather being, you can’t fool a Corleone, Sonny’s death demands a punishment. In the year of Hillary’s public effort for a campaign test run, Mario Puzo’s comment with slight changes is applicable, “Hillary, you must answer for Benghazi.” Dr. Alan G. Phillips, Sr.
